Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) marginally gained 0.09 points to end at 9,108.93 points (with a year-to-date performance to -5.31 percent) with total market capitalization at MAD 458.351 billion (a gain of MAD 142 million or US$14.5 million relative to previous market capitalization of MAD 458.239). The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 555.132 million relatively to the previous total traded value of MAD 49.858 million.
The Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,425.44 points (added 0.31 points compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index rose by 0.02 percent to close at 7,774.63 points (-11.86 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index advanced by 0.10 percent to end at 7,620.16 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -5.47 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Chemicals, Mining and Real Estate sector indices grew by 1.12 percent, 1.10 percent, and 0.68 percent respectively. On the laggards’ side, Leisure & Hotels sector index (sagged by 4.67 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -46.84 percent), Engineering & Equipment Industrial sector index (lost 1.16 percent to end at -43.73 percent year-to-date return) and Constructions & Building Materials sector index (dropped 0.69 percent to end at 15,253.49 levels).
Looking at the market price leaders and laggards, the gainers’ were RES DAR SAADA added 3.56 percent to close at MAD 158.45 and MANAGEM higher by 2.38 percent to settle at MAD 860.00. CIH gained also 1.81 percent or MAD 4.90 with a closing price of MAD 274.80 and EQDOM climbed by 1.51 percent to end at MAD 1,000. SNEP soared by 1.38 percent to settle at MAD 106.45.
On the losers’ team, STROC INDUSTRIE and TASLIF dipped by 6.00 percent (to settle at MAD 45.12) and slid by 6.00 percent (to trade at MAD 42.30) respectively. RISMA and ALLIANCES lost 4.67 percent (with a closing price of MAD 143.00) and dropped 4.02 percent (to end at MAD 43.00) respectively. HOLCIM Maroc fell by 3.64 percent to settle at MAD 1,720.
